September 11, 2016

News that the Bermuda Paralympic team began competition in Rio, the St. George’s Parish Council awarded five scholarships and a couple returned to Bermuda to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary after enjoying their honeymoon here in 1966 were some of the positive news stories from the past week.

Other good news stories included details on the unveiling of the island’s new Olympic Wall, Bermuda High School students achieving “outstanding results” with GCSE/IGCSE, Dean Stephens and Shawn Riley being named Cricket Players of Week, and details on a book to be published on Bermuda nicknames.

We also posted various community photo galleries, including coverage of ball hockey, sailing, the Caines Brothers’ Back to School Extravaganza event, the Labour Day road races and march, the Gombey Festival and the French Fry Eating Contest & Fun Day.
