July 17, 2017

The Bermuda U19 Rugby Team traveled to Miami, Florida on Friday afternoon [July 14] to participate in the RAN Super Week, which runs from July 15 to July 22.

A spokesperson said, “The team played their first game against the Cayman Islands on Saturday afternoon [July 15], where the boys really showed their strength. They worked well together and held up Cayman from scoring until the very last, winning the game 15-10.

“Tries from Alex Doyling & Mikel Dill, and a penalty and conversion by Jaymin Hodgkins set-up a semi-final against USA Rugby South A on Tuesday, July 18th.

“The game will be live streamed through the RAN website, with kick-off commencing at 5pm Bermuda time. Bermuda’s placement in this game will determine their next competitor.

“Other teams competing in the Men’s division include Jamaica, Turks & Caicos, Trinidad & Tobago, and USA Rugby South B team.

“Bermuda has one of the younger teams in the competition, and features a few boys who are only 14 and 15, as well as Beyond Rugby’s player of the year.”

“The team will return to Bermuda on Sunday night.”
