Not Guilty Plea In $1.7 Million Drug Case

This morning [Jan 4] in the monthly Supreme Court arraignment session, a Canadian female alleged to have imported $1.7 million worth of drugs plead not guilty.

Ontario resident Janet Grant, 47, is alleged to have imported cocaine, heroin and marijuana on October 21, 2010. Ms Grant was arrested after arriving on the island from a WestJet flight from Toronto. She appeared before Chief Justice Richard Ground and was represented by K Savoury of Savoury & Associates.

Her trial date was set for next month, and she was remanded in custody.

Others re-appearing roday in order to have trial or sentencing dates set were:

  • Antoinette & David Bolden – Trial date set for 09 May 2011 and bail continued.
  • Jermaine Wellington Pearman – Trial set for 18 May 2011 – remand continued
  • Kyle Larry Ingham – Trial set or 04 April 2011 – remand continued
  • Quincy Stanley Brangman – Sentencing date set for 20 January 2011 with an earlier ‘mention’ on 11 January 2011 – remand continued.
  • Ezra Ezzard Williams – Mention on 01 February 2011 and sentencing on 15 February 2011 – remand continued.
  • Kishauni Kevoni Wolffe – Sentencing date is 20 January 2011 – remand continued
  • Desmond Trott – Trial date set for 11 July 2011 – bail continued

    While I applaud the justice systems swift movements on the convictions of all the recent criminal activity, what are we doing to rehabilate these criminals once they are in the system?
