Renaissance Aviation To Reinstate Workers

March 3, 2011

The majority of the full time staff severed at Renaissance Aviation will be taken back, according to a statement from the company. The company had been in a dispute with the Bermuda Industrial Union [BIU] regarding the termination of staff.

A statement from the company said, “Over the past two days Renaissance Aviation, assisted by the Bermuda Employers’ Council, and senior officers of the Bermuda Industrial Union have held extensive meetings.”

“There is now an agreement between the parties on all outstanding matters and no contentious issues remain unresolved. Both parties are committed to ensuring that the airport operations of Renaissance Aviation continue smoothly and harmoniously, with a view to ensuring the continued economic success of the company and the continued employment of the staff.”

“The majority of the full time staff severed last week will be taken back and will be phased back into the workplace over the next three weeks. All workers made redundant will have the opportunity to apply for any vacancies and will be favourably considered first. The parties have also tentatively agreed on an appropriate bargaining unit that will allow for a union recognition ballot.”

The Union couldn’t give a damn about the economic success of the company as long as their people have jobs. Short sighted because when the company folds, NONE of them will have jobs!
