Vehicle Access Restricted At Botanical Gardens

January 25, 2013

Paget Health Services advises that there will be a temporary restriction for vehicular traffic accessing the Botanical Gardens from Point Finger Road. The restriction is for safety reasons to allow excavation for the new water treatment plant and subsequently to construct the new car park for the new hospital wing.

The pedestrian access will remain open. Work will commence Monday 28th January with the new access route being completed in late 2013. The alternative access route from South Road via Botanical Drive will not be affected.

Barry New, General Manager of PHS, comments: “Due to the depth of the excavation and close proximity to the temporary access road to the Botanical Gardens from Point Finger Road, we will need to close the temporary access road from Point Finger Road to the Botanical Gardens for safety reasons.

“This has been agreed with Parks Department. The existing hoarding will be moved south to the pedestrian footpath access which will remain open and, of course, we will be able to provide emergency access should it be required.”

So sad that all of Bermuda’s foliage is disappearing bit by bit and no one is saying or doing anything about it. :(

Parking at KEMH. This is something I’ve wondered about for a long time. Will there be efficient use of space with a multistory carpark or will what are now gardens be paved over?
