Report: Aston Villa Trying To Sign Nahki Wells
[Updated] Premier League side Aston Villa are reportedly trying to sign Nahki Wells according to a report from the Metro, who said a $3.27 million deal could be “in the pipeline” for the Bradford City striker.
According to the report from the Metro, Wells is “closing in on a switch to Villa Park” as Aston Villa have “turned to Bradford City goal-machine Nahki Wells as they look to add to their stuttering strike force.”
Bradford City defeated Aston Villa last year during their Capital Cup run, with Wells thrilling his fans in Bradford and back home when he opened the scoring for Bradford in the 19th minute.
Wells goal against Aston Villa last year:
Bradford City joint chairman Mark Lawn recently confirmed that both Premier League and Championship teams have shown interest in the former Dandy Town player.
During an interview on Sky Sports News Radio, Mr Lawn declined to confirm the exact teams interested in the 23-year-old Bermudian striker, he did say that “more than one club” is interested and confirmed that Bradford had a “firm bid from one club.”
Mr Lawn said, “There’s been a couple of Premier League sides shown interest, a couple of Championship sides and a couple of others as well.”
This latest report that Aston Villa is interested follows after a slew of reports linking the 23 year old Bermudian with various clubs including QPR, Wolves, Huddersfield, Reading and Blackburn.
Bradford City are reported to have already rejected the first bid for Wells, and according to the Birmingham Mail the Wolverhampton Wanderers were “snubbed” by Wells.
The report quotes the team’s coach as saying, “Some weeks ago we did enquire about Nahki Wells but I don’t think he will come to League One. His aims and ambitions are above our level…”
The transfer window ends on January 31st, and conjecture can be expected to continue over the coming days.
Update Jan 8, 7.33am: The reports continue, with the latest one from the Telegraph & Argus saying: “Aston Villa have been backed in to favourites for the City striker’s signature according to two leading bookmakers. But the T&A understands that they are not the club involved…”
The T&A said two sides from the top flight had registered an interest last week, and quote Joint-chairman Julian Rhodes as saying “One is still in the ring. They’ve been on to Phil (Parkinson) about Nahki and on that basis they could be coming in with something.
“We get inquiries every day but we’ve had no formal offers other than the one last week.”
OMG I would be so excited if Nahki signs with Aston Villa!!
Take it!
If this chance comes to fruition please grasp it with both hands. Good luck on your journey young man.
no not AV….they are in the relegation zone so why transfer to a team that may not be BPL next season?…..QPR are a better choice since they are in the champions league promotion zone

sorry AV are mid table but still struggling non the less
If you have a choice, then you choose a club that plays in a style that will give you the greatest opportunity of developing and scoring whilst doing so. If you like quick breaks and through balls v heading goals via crosses from deep etc then this will influence your choice.
Going to a club where it is not set up to your strengths means that you either change the way you play and develop or fail miserably.
This seems to be a well thought out comment. I would like to agree with you.
