Club Fined For Fielding Unregistered Lambe
Following what Mansfield Town Football Club is calling a “an honest administrative mistake,” the team has been fined £6,000 [$9,270] for allowing Bermudian Reggie Lambe to take the field during a January 17 match when he was unregistered.
A statement from the club following the hearing by the Football Disciplinary Commission said, “A Football Disciplinary Commission [FDC] has fined Mansfield Town the sum of £6,000 for fielding an unregistered player [Reggie Lambe] in the club’s League 2 match against Exeter City on January 17, which Mansfield lost 2-3.
“The FDC ruled that £4,500 of that sum should be suspended for a period of 12 months with Mansfield Town also being ordered to pay the costs of the Commission.”
The club believes that we had a fair hearing by the Football Disciplinary Committee and the outcome reflects an honest administrative mistake made in mitigating circumstances. The club will not be appealing the decision and now considers the matter closed. No further comment will be made by the club.”
