Around The Island Race Postponed Until Aug 14
The 2016 Rubis Around the Island Power Boat Race due to be held tomorrow has been postponed for a week with racing expected to get underway at 2.00pm from Ferry Reach on Sunday August 14th.
A post on the association’s Facebook page said, “Under the advisement of local authorities the race has been postponed until next week Sunday 14 August.
“Mandatory drivers meeting 7.00pm and crash boats meeting 6.30pm on Wednesday 10 August at Spanish Point Boat Club.”
Another post says, “Ferry Reach will be closed to marine traffic from 12 noon to 3.30pm.” The race is being sponsored by Rubis, Freisenbruch-Meyer Group, PW’s, International Sports Shop and Barritt’s.

On the positive side the delay might give a couple more boats a chance to enter.
This used to be bermudas most watched sport. I think govt should think about a duty break for the power boat racers. Maybe 3 months before the season starts let them order there stuff etc something along those lines

you mean there is a race i would have never known, most pathetic build up ever, Rubis should pull the plug on this they don’t deserve it. this is from from a past participant
