Video: Sunday August 30th ‘Good News’ Spotlight

News that the Hamilton Princess officially welcomed guests back to the hotel, Blue Waters Anglers Club held a back to school give away, Allied World Bermuda worked with 11 small businesses across the island to create over 225 gift bags full of unique local products, and an art display of blue butterflies by local artist Nicky Gurret was featured at the Crow Lane Roundabout in Paget were all some of the positive news stories from the past week.

In additional good news, the USL Championship named Bermuda’s Zeiko Lewis as one of the “Top 10 Caribbean Players in the Championship in 2020,” saying that Lewis has become “indispensable for the Charleston Battery,” Bacardi appointed Danielle Paynter as Director of Corporate Affairs, visually impaired people can vote independently, and Gherdai Hassell was noted as an ‘Emerging Black Artist’.

Other good news stories included the Paget Parish Council announcing their scholarship recipients, with Kamilya Reid, Cameron Jeffers, and Robert Edwards all receiving education awards, the Ministry of Community Affairs and Sports announcing that Mackenzie Costa, Photini-Dawn Ingham, and Sabriyya Harvey were awarded Bermuda Arts Council student grants, with the trio collectively receiving $25,000 in funding, Hamilton Parish Council awarding scholarships, and the Royal Bermuda Regiment Association launching a scholarship fund.

We also posted various community photo galleries, including coverage of First and Premier Division cricket action, archers competing in an online tournament, and the BBA Road Race Championship.
