Bread, Potatoes & Fruit Juices Prices Up

The cost of bread went up 20.7%, potatoes went up 23.2% and fruit juices went up 18.4% on a year to year basis, while on a month to month basis, the average cost of bread increased by 10.5%, and pineapples went up 7.4%.

This is according to the recently released July Consumer Price Index which said that on an overall month to month basis the food sector rose 1.1% for July, while an annual basic food sector prices rose 9%.

As far as year to year food prices, the report said, “The Food sector was the largest contributor to the twelvemonth increase in the CPI [+9.0 per cent]. On average, increases were reported in the cost of bread [+20.7 per cent], potatoes [+23.2 per cent] and fruit juices [+18.4 per cent].”

Looking at food prices on a month to month basis, the report said, “The Food sector rose 1.1 per cent for July. Increases were reported in the average cost of bread [+10.5 per cent], pineapples [+7.4 per cent] and fruit juices [+5.7 per cent].”
