[Updated] Due to a BIU general membership meeting being held tomorrow [March 29], public services will be interrupted.

A Government spokesperson said, “The public is advised that due to a Bermuda Industrial Union [BIU] general membership meeting taking place tomorrow, March 29, from 10.00 a.m. – 12.00 p.m., public services will be interrupted.

“Specifically, there will be no bus or ferry services during this period. Other delayed services include trash collection, parks, postal delivery and other services.

“All disrupted services will resume following the conclusion of the BIU meeting.”

Update 2.28pm: A Government spokesperson said, “The affects on bus service will be felt from 9:00 am on as the service gradually stands down in advance of the meeting. We expect service to resume from 12:30 pm pending the meeting finishing on time, but the repositioning of buses and operators will impact the service slightly beyond then.”

So. The general public screwed again by BIU & PLP. Pathetic. Have had to change early appointment they don’t give a damn.

It literally costs them zero to give a week’s notice (and maybe a follow-up 3 days later) just so people with appointments, etc can look into rescheduling or arranging alternatives. Alas.

Wasn’t it Vance Campbell who called on all of Bermuda to get behind tourism? Seems the BIU do their usual “up yours” day and have a day off. Every time the BIU get away with these tricks make them stronger, the public disrespected and the PLP weaker. No wonder the SP reno is still not started, and more reason to disband the BTA and save $25million plus a year.
