UK Parliament: Economic Diversification In Island
“As this issue is a devolved responsibility of the Government of Bermuda, the UK Government is therefore supportive of Bermuda’s own efforts to diversify its economy and encourage investment,” British MP David Rutley said.
During the British Parliament’s session on July 10th, Conservative MP Andrew Rosindell asked the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, “whether his Department is providing assistance to economic diversification in Bermuda.”
In response, Assistant Whip [HM Treasury], Parliamentary Under-Secretary [Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office] David Rutley said, “The UK is committed to supporting the economic resilience of all Overseas Territories to build and maintain prosperity, and recognise that Territory Governments have between them a wealth of experience in delivering successful economic diversification.
“As this issue is a devolved responsibility of the Government of Bermuda, the UK Government is therefore supportive of Bermuda’s own efforts to diversify its economy and encourage investment.”
