Butterfield & Vallis Gears Up For Annual 5K Race
Preparations are in full swing for the Butterfield & Vallis 5K scheduled for January 21st, with Action on Alzheimer’s and Dementia selected as the designated charity.
A spokesperson said, “The race season is well underway and staff at Butterfield & Vallis are gearing up for the Butterfield & Vallis 5K on Sunday January 21st.
“This year, Action on Alzheimer’s and Dementia are the chosen charity with all race proceeds going to this amazing cause.
“The races kick off at 8.30am with a 1k race for lower primary students. At 9.00am the Primary and Middle School boys and girls will run the 2.7k route and at 9.30 the Senior School students and adults will run 5k. Walkers will start 5 minutes after the runners. The first 900 to finish will receive a medal.
“$500 will be awarded to the Primary, Middle and Secondary schools/junior groups with the most entries.
“Draw prizes will include 2 Trek Hybrid pedal bikes from Winners’ Edge, breakfast for two at Grotto Bay, a month of group fitness classes at Alchemy.
“BF&M have kindly donated activity trackers to all first place winners. There will also be a corporate prize for the company with the most entries.
“Volunteers from Action on Alzheimer’s and Dementia will be assisting with the race both with number pick-up, marshaling the course and manning the water stops plus the Bermuda Red Cross will be on the course keeping everyone safe.
“Number pick-up is on Saturday, January 20th from 10.00 to 1.00pm. The first 900 participants at number pick-up will receive a fabulous dri-fit shirt and goodie bag filled with products from Axe, Carolina Rice, Coca-Cola, Folgers, Jif, KraftHeinz, DelMonte, Reign Storm, Pepperidge Farm, Planters Nuts, Powerade, Nature Valley and Beep. Post race refreshments will be supplies by Powerade, Nature Valley, Folgers and Danone North America.
