Lamont Marshall And Gayle Lindsay Win 5K
[Updated] Lamont Marshall and Gayle Lindsay claimed victories in the Bermuda Healthcare “Sir” Stanley Burgess 5K in Devonshire today [May 5].
Marshall finished the race – the final leg of the Swan’s Running Club Legends Series – in 15min 28sec.
Sean Trott, who claimed the overall Legends men’s title with 93 points, came second in 16.41, with Adam Prunty placing third in 16.48.
Meanwhile, Lindsay was the fastest woman, coming seventh overall in 18.13, claiming the women’s overall title with 100 points.
Estienne Coetzee was runner-up in 18.40, with Megan Berry coming third in 20.14.
In the competitive 5k walk, Michael Cenzer finished first in 40.57, Annette Fitzmaurice came second in 43.22, and Trina Smith placed third in 43.34.
The Legend Series aims to celebrate Bermuda’s race legends. Participants had to compete in a minimum of three of the four races to be eligible for titles.
Both winners were awarded $1250 each for being the first to cross the finish line in their respective divisions.
Update: BHCS Chairman Dr. Ewart Brown commented on Gayle Lindsay’s victory, “We congratulate Gayle on retaining the first-place adult female title in record time for the third consecutive year. We wish her continued success.” Dr. Brown added, “Lamont Marshall continues to excel, and his victory today strengthens his reputation as one of Bermuda’s greatest runners.
