Warwick Football Academy Claim Titles
The Warwick Football Academy will return home with silverware from the New England Surf Challenge and Showcase Tournament.
Six academy teams [under-9, under-11, under-13 girls and under-10, under-11 and under-12 boys] competed at the tournament over the Bermuda Day weekend.
The under-9 boys defeated Rhode Island Surf 6-2 in the final, with David Gutteridge scoring five and Landon Frank finding the net.
They advanced to the final after defeating New England Surf Metro West 2015 Boys Sky 5-3. David Gutteridge bagged a brace and Levi Mello, Landon Frank, Sebastian Hughes also scored.
The under-10 boys also won their division, beating New England Surf Metro West Navy 3-2 in the final. Sam Bernardino, Nick Luber and Grayson Roque scored.
They drew 2-2 with Surf Raiders FC 2014 Blue 2 to advance to the final, with Eoin Muirhead and Jaden Waldron scoring.
The under-10 girls reached the Silver Division final after beating the New England Surf Metro South 1-0 thanks to a goal from Millie Adolph.
They lost 1-0 in the final to Lightening Soccer Club.
