Boccia player Yushae DeSilva-Andrade said she hopes to have done enough to have qualified for the Paralympics in Paris this summer.
The 30-year-old expects to discover next month whether she has met the standard for the Paralympics.
DeSilva-Andrade, who competed at the recent Montreal World Cup, her first outing of the year, said she would love to become a two-time Paralympian.
“We’re just waiting on the Paralympics,” DeSilva-Andrade told Bernews. “I believe the confirmation comes out at the beginning of next month.
“It’s based on ranking points, what teams [nations] have already qualified, and then it will come down to individuals.
“I have a good chance. I’ve done my best and had an awesome last year. I’m excited about the year ahead.”
DeSilva-Andrade, who finished last year with a world ranking of fourth in the women’s individual BC1 Division, expects to return to action at the Povoa de Varzim World Cup in Portugal in July. The Paralympics follows in August and September.
Last year, she won medals in three World Cup competitions, gold at the Fortaleza World Cup in Brazil, silver at the World Challenger in Santiago, Chile, and silver at the Montreal World Cup.
She also won silver at the Parapan Am Games in Santiago.
