Video: Sunday Nov 10th “Good News” Spotlight
News that Tahjae Welch has risen from an entry-level position all the way to store manager at MarketPlace, Makeba Outerbridge has been promoted to Assistant Vice-President Investments at LOM Financial, Andrew Armstrong was named the Rookie of the Week by the Atlantic 10 Conference, and Joshua Joseph was named North Atlantic Conference men’s soccer player of the year were all some of the positive news stories from the past week.
In additional good news, athletes from Open Mat Bermuda claimed five medals at the Pan IBJJF Jiu-Jitsu No-Gi Championship in Texas, Bermudian brothers Sebastian and Michael Madeiros helped St. Andrew’s College claim the CISAA title, Taylor White’s victories in three events led the Bentley women’s swimming and diving team to a 147-115 win over Assumption, Bermuda’s cycling team won multiple medals at the Caribbean Elite Road Championships in Guyana, Gabriella and Joseph Cechini excelled at the 2024 Mid-Atlantic Prep League cross country championships, Rahzir Smith-Jones scored against Uxbridge and HOME received a substantial donation from the QBE Foundation
Other good news stories included Rosewood Bermuda raising $50,000 in charitable donations during the annual Rosewood Cup, Coleridge Fubler being named Player of the Month for English non-league side Binfield, Eva Frazzoni scoring in AFC Sudbury’s 3-0 win, Johnie Berntsson winning the 2024 Bermuda Gold Cup, Pauline Courtois and Normandy winning the 2024 Aspen Bermuda Women’s Match Racing Regatta, and Kayla Bardgett winning the SCAD junior flat class.
Further good news included Appleby, Carey Olsen, Conyers, and Walkers all achieving high rankings with Legal 500, Global Atlantic awarding BioQuest a $75,000 grant to support biodiversity conservation in Bermuda, the Bermuda Police Service releasing the next set of its Bermuda Sports Superstars Cards, and PALS getting set to hold its 44th annual Holiday Fair on November 23.
