WA & WWC Form Warwick Cricket Academy
Warwick Academy [WA] and Warwick Workmen’s Club [WWC] have formally amalgamated their youth cricket structures to form the Warwick Cricket Academy [WCA] in the run-up to the 2025 cricket season.
A spokesperson said, “The President of Warwick Workmen’s Club, Mr. Lorenzo Tucker, said that following the Covid pandemic the two organisations have been working closely to support the growth of youth cricket in the Warwick area and believe that this is a natural move to leverage each other’s strengths. WWC, a Premier and First Division club, has a reputation for developing young cricketers, such as the likes of Delray Rawlins and Dion Stovell, while Warwick Academy, since joining the Bermuda Cricket Board cricket leagues nine years ago, has created a nurturing youth developmental pathway.
“Principal of Warwick Academy, Mr. David Horan, added that the Warwick Cricket Academy will cater to young cricketers from the PeeWee age [5-year-olds] up to Under 16, with those graduating out of the youth programme moving into the senior Warwick Workman’s squad. The school and club have been located opposite each other for 101 years, and bringing them together in this way will continue to have the knock-on effect of strengthening relationships within the Warwick community.
“Parents of interested young cricketers can contact Mr. Richard Todd, the Academy’s Technical Director, at rtodd@warwick.bm, to find out more information.”
