Erica Hawley Finishes Ninth In New Zealand
Erica Hawley achieved a top ten finish in the World Triathlon Cup Napier in New Zealand yesterday [February 22].
The 26-year-old, who placed 41st at the Olympic Games in Paris last summer, came ninth in the elite women’s race in a time of 57min 26sec.
Competing for the first time since Paris, Hawley finished the 750-kilometre swim in 9:51, the 20km cycle in 29:24 and the 5km run in 17:13.
Currently ranked just inside the world’s top 100, Hawley was the fourteenth highest-rated athlete in the field of 27 competitors.
Desirae Ridenour, of Canada, won the race in 56:24.
