Met Opera: Live In HD & Encore Series Showing
The Bermuda Opera Team is getting set to present Puccini’s Turandot on Sunday [April 6] at 5.00pm at BUEI, along with a documentary on Dr. Gary Burgess.
“The Bermuda Opera Team is proud to continue presenting the Met: Live in HD [2023-24] & Encore series in Bermuda [on film]. Don’t miss your chance to experience these world-class productions on the big screen in high-definition quality.
“All operas are on Sundays at 5.00pm at BUEI unless otherwise advised. All have English subtitles and are approximately 3-4 hours long [including a 30-minute interval].
“The next opera this season is Puccini’s Turandot – a Met Encore from 2016 – approximately 2 hours 20 minutes [in Italian with English subtitles] on Sunday, 6 April 2025 at 5.00pm at BUEI.

“In this 2016 Met performance of Puccini’s extravagant masterpiece, soprano Nina Stemme and tenor Marco Berti star in a larger-than-life staging from legendary director Franco Zeffirelli. Paolo Carignani conducts.
“With special showing [approx 17 mins.], produced and directed by Milton Raposo and narrated by Gary Phillips OBE, of Dr. Gary Burgess, tenor – a new short documentary about Dr. Gary Burgess, who started his musical career in Bermuda as a teenager but went on to sing on many of the World’s greatest opera stages and sharing them with the who’s who of the opera world.
