Bermuda Volleyball Players Compete In St Lucia
The Bermuda Men’s and Women’s Beach National Teams are competing in the 2025 ECVA Beach Volleyball Championships in St. Lucia.
A spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Men’s & Women’s Beach National Teams are currently at participating in the 2025 Eastern Caribbean Volleyball Association [ECVA] Men’s and Women’s Beach Volleyball Championships taking place from May 2-4, 2025, in St. Lucia.
“The ECVA Beach Championship is a zonal championship tournament for all Eastern Caribbean Countries. The Bermuda Volleyball Association [BVA] is proud to announce the teams for this event. The Men’s team will consist of the pairing of Sean Tucker & Benjamin Barnett, while the Women’s team will consist of the pairing of Megan Hands & Hailey Moss.
“The teams began Pool play on Friday, May 2, 2025, competing against other national beach volleyball teams including St. Lucia, Dominica, Sk. Kitts and Nevis, Antigua and Barbuda, Grenada, Anguilla, and St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
“The Men’s Pairing of Barnett & Tucker began play in Pool A facing off against St. Lucia 1 and Anguilla. Barnett and Tucker started with a dominant win over the pairing of Hazzard/Fredericks of Anguilla 2-0 [21-11, 21-19].
“The Team then faced an experienced pairing from St. Lucia, Descartes and Clercent who are chasing a 3rd consecutive ECVA Senior Beach Volleyball Championship title. Bermuda ultimately fell to the St. Lucia pair 2-0 [21-18, 21-9].
“Beining Day 2, the pair of Barnett and Tucker advanced to a round of 12 and were set to take on the St. Lucia 2 pair of Albert/Clarke for a spot in the quarterfinals. Barnett and Tucker had the better of the St. Lucia 2 pair winning the match 2-0 [21-10, 21-9] and confirming a spot in the quarterfinals.
“Barnett & Tucker drew the Grenada 2 pairing of Zerick/Hamilton. Barnett and Tucker confirmed their spot in the quarterfinals with a win over the Granda 2 pair 2-0 [10-21, 18-21].
“The Bermuda Men’s pair will take on St. Kitts & Nevis pairing of Bristol/ Pencheon for a spot in the Finals on Day 3.
“The Women’s team of Hands & Moss began their run in Pool D taking on pairs for Antigua and St. Lucia. Their tournament started off will against the pairing of Neptune/Erica Gaspard with the Bermuda team falling 0-2 [8-21, 13-21].
“The Women then took on Antigua’s Joseph/Regis which saw the Bermuda women fall in a hard fought 3 set match 1-2 [15-21, 21-12, 12,15]. Despite the hard start for the Women’s pair of Hands & Moss they advanced to the Round of 12 taking on the Anguilla pair of Richardson /Fleming. The round of 12 march saw the Bermuda Women victorious 0-2 [8-21, 13-21] guaranteeing their advancement to the quarterfinals.
“The Women’s pair of Hands & Moss faced off against the Pair of Pascal/Henry from Dominica. The pair ultimately was victorious, claiming their sport in the Semi finals with a 2-0 [21-18, 21-13] Win. Bermuda’s women will now take on St. Lucia for a spot in the Finals on Day 3.”
