ADHT Honours Eli Furbert At Annual Awards
The African Diaspora Heritage Trail Foundation celebrated 19-year-old Eli Furbert with the Preserving Heritage Award.
A spokesperson said, “The African Diaspora Heritage Trail Foundation [ADHT] has proudly recognized 19-year-old Eli Furbert with the esteemed ADHT Preserving Heritage Award at a ceremony that highlighted both his remarkable talent and his role in preserving cultural tradition and sailing heritage.
“Furbert, a member of the East End Mini Yacht Club, made waves in the Edward Cross 80th Annual Long Distance Comet Sailboat Race held on June 16, 2025. Furbert served as crew aboard the vessel Mai’Lucy II, captained by skipper Geovanni Hayward. His participation in a demanding sport and race known for its rigorous standards and rich tradition speaks to his endurance, strategy, and camaraderie. His impressive feat as the youngest African-Bermudian sailor to participate in this year’s iconic event earned him a certificate and cash prize at the awards night held on June 22, 2025, at the West End Mini Yacht Club.
