Taylor Carrick has claimed Bermuda’s first medal at the International Island Games in Orkney after winning a silver medal in squash today [July 15].
Carrick was defeated 3-0 [12-10, 11,5, 11-9] by Finlay Scott, of Orkney, in the final of the men’s singles at the Pickaquoy Centre in Kirkwall.
The 23-year-old, who defeated Ivan Flores, of Gibraltar, in an tense five-game encounter in the semi-finals, said he was happy with his performances in Orkney.
“I’m very proud of the whole week,” Carrick told Bernews.
“I wish I could have brought home a gold medal, but I’m happy to start the chain.
“I’m going to be rooting hard for the rest of the team to win some medals.”
