The Bermuda Society of Arts [BSoA] is inviting the public to “The People’s Gallery” this February to experience a dual exhibition and film series celebrating Black history and excellence.

A spokesperson said, “In the Onions Gallery, “A Place of Our Own” commemorates a century of Black history through the work of Bermudian artists, the Edinburgh Gallery features The Mobile African Foundation Timeline [MAFT], providing a visual 1,000-year overview of African achievements.”

Executive Director Nzingha Ming said, “We are thrilled to provide a platform for such important exploration of identity and heritage, From the deep historical roots showcased in the MAFT timeline to the contemporary expressions in ‘A Place of Our Own,’ this season is about education, information, and celebration.”

The spokesperson said, “We also encourage the community to attend our Film Series. This curated selection, presented in collaboration with Deep Cut Community Cinema, offering a unique opportunity to reflect on the Black experience through cinema.

“Admission is free to the public, with a suggested donation of $5 for special events.”
