December 26, 2012

The holiday season continues to be marred with tragedy, with the police now confirming the death of a 24-year-old man following a motorcycle collision late on Christmas night.

Police spokesperson Dwayne Caines said: “At approximately 11:28pm Tuesday December 25th 2012, first responders were dispatched to a report of a single vehicle road traffic collision located at North Shore Road and Old Road in Hamilton Parish.”

“This single vehicle collision involved a motorcycle ridden by a 24 year old male who was transported to KEMH where he later died as a result of his injuries. No further information will be given until the next of kin to be notified.”

This was the second tragic event to occur on Christmas Day, following the murder of 20-year-old Malcolm Augustus in St George’s.

I live near there and heard all the first responders last night and I knew something serious had happened. I was then called and told who it was this morning and I am truly horrified. To make things worse, the family has just gone through another loss very recently and now this. This Christmas season has brought them so much pain-I pray they’ll be able to look at it with joy again some day.

    • D. Evans says:

You insensitive piece of trash (that’s the nicest word I’m allowed to use on here). You can’t be serious. 2 families are grieving for their young sons and all you can do is make this political? Dumbass, if you don’t have anything nice to say, keep your pie hole shut.

May the families get the strenght to get through this terrible ordeal. R.I.P. both young brothers.

    • Raw Onion says:

Why would anyone even respond to NewGovn? Clearly this person has no sense.

    • LadyB says:

    • Sarai says:

@NewGovn; Are you for real??? C’mon-are they supposed to wave a magic wand and make all the country’s problems go away overnight? Do you honestly think they’ll be able to prevent RTA’s, disease and other tragedies? There’s only one person who has control over that and the last I heard He’s sitting up in Heaven…

    • SoMuchMore says:

NewGovn, your post is uncalled for and I thought yesterday’s post about the sirens was bad.

You and the poster from yesterday (in the other story) better be careful cause your comments are irreverent to the situation and should be deleted.

Anyway, like I said in the other story to the other poster Karma is a B***h. Watch out.

    • Why says:

      Just say nothing!

    R.I.P cousin. Love you. xO*

  14. Oh My ! says:

    @Newgovern and Iagree@wronginfo

You both sound so STUPID what on earth does this tradegy have to do with politics:

    With people like you in Bermuda we will never see or have change;

You both sound so assine: Please think before you comment: Remember KARMA:

My heart goes out to the family of both young man: I know what it feels like to lose someone around this time of year.

    Shut Up: Stupid Azzes

    • Dee (Original) says:

You need to re-read Iagree@wronginfo’s post again. They were simply stating people will make anything political, they weren’t agreeing with it. A very sad situation, two more young men gone. A young child will now grow up without knowing the love of her father. Hopefully someone will step in and be that father figure that she needs. R.I.P.

      • Welcome to Earth says:

Agreed-I was wondering why Oh My was jumping all over his comment; I thought I must have missed something. Looks like reading comprehension isn’t OH My’s strong suit!

  15. Yanzie says:

R.I.P. big cousin. Love you, hope we meet up again.

  16. May we all be sensitive and not confuse one situation with another and remember that there are families that are in pain and suffering at this hour.

Our heartfelt condolonces go out to both families that are suffering in their time of loss, through the tragic circumstances that surround both situations but the end result is death.May God strengthen you at your most weakest hour, when their are more questions then answers.

Our prayers also go out for the family of the young man who is in police custody at this hour for the shooting,as they the family are not responsible for the deeds of their loved one but equally are in pain this day because of the possibility of their loved one that may be guilty of the loss of someone else.

In all we can not make the road death political but must hold our elected officials responsible for the wave of gun violence that has reared it’s ugly head once again,as they the Government is responsible for our boarders and public safety and must be kept accountable for all that we face in this country, regardless who the government is.

So I agree that those who wish to blame or associate the government for the tragic road death, you are way out of order and we can not even directly associate them for the tragic shooting death either.we can however work together in preventing as many like occurance as possible.

It is sad to see the loss of life under any circumstance but we keep seeing young black males and this dont sit well with me as it is even more of a direct hit as I have watch both these young man grow from youth.

God strengthen all those who are effected by these tragic events and give you His peace that passe’s all understanding is our prayer.
