Cruise Ship Transfers Two Sick Passengers

Before reaching Bermuda for a scheduled visit, two sick passengers were transferred from the Carnival Splendor cruise ship on Saturday [Apr 20] and transported to Ordnance Island by the pilot boat St David.

A Bermuda Maritime Operations Centre spokesperson said, “Cruise ship Carnival Splendor, located offshore Bermuda prior to entering port on Sunday morning, conducted two medical transfers during the day. The first took place at 3:30am, concerning a 70 year old female who had suffered a stroke.

“The second took place at 9:00pm, concerning a 56 year old female with a brain contusion. Both transfers were conducted by the pilot boat St David off the east end of the island and both patients were conveyed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital by ambulance.”
