May 2, 2013

28-year-old Patrick Stamp of St. George’s appeared in a UK Court yesterday [May 1] regarding an extradition request in relation to the murder of Malcolm Augustus. Mr Stamp is legally challenging the extradition request.

The police previously said he was taken into custody in the UK, with a “view to extradition to Bermuda to face charges.”

A police spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Police Service can confirm that 28 year old Patrick Stamp of St. George’s appeared in Westminster Magistrates’ Court, London UK on Wednesday, May 1st regarding an extradition request in relation to the murder of Malcolm Augustus on 25th December, 2012.

“Mr. Stamp elected to challenge the extradition request, and therefore extradition proceedings in the UK courts will commence in due course.”

Mr Augustus, 20, was shot and killed on the the St George’s golf course on Christmas Day in 2012. Wolde Gardner has been charged with his murder, and yesterday pleaded not guilty.

Can we just reverse this situation for one moment. A U.K. citizen arrives on Island and soon after we discover that he’s wanted for a murder committed in the U.K. What would we do? Are you kidding? He would be shipped off the Island so fast his feet wouldn’t touch the ground. I doubt if fighting extradition would even be an option.

All of these young Bermudian men who are “escaping” to the UK to avoid gang related retaliation should be made to realize that if they commit any sort of crime in the UK, or if they are wanted for crimes committed here, then there will be no “escape”. That will be the price they have to pay.

P stand your ground, don’t let the wicked choose your fate.
If this guy shot Patrick, no police would be looking for the shooter, and most of us know that. Protection is for the few! and we know who they are. i don’t condone violence, but he isn’t a murderer, you would know that through his music, and his cricket. P don’t go down for something you didn’t do,do whatever you got to do regardless what they are writing about you. Hang in there, , remember do’t let anyone no matter who, choose your fate.
