Man Admits Threatening Ex-Girlfriend & Dog
A 30-year-old man appeared in Magistrates Court this morning [Sept 19] where he pleaded guilty to threatening his ex-girlfriend and her dog.
Peter Nentwig was fined $1,300 and ordered to pay $700 in damages after his two guilty pleas were accepted by Senior Magistrate Archie Warner.
Nentwig admitted unlawfully damaging a ‘boom-box’ and front door after he forced his way into his ex-girlfriends Warwick residence in the early hours of the morning on 4th August this year.
He also admitted threatening her by telling her: “If you call the Police, I’ll come back in three months and make burn your house down and make sure you and Bentley are in it.” [Bentley is her pet dog.]
Nentwig also pleaded not guilty to a charge of unlawfully assaulting his ex-girlfriend. The Crown Prosecutor said that in light of the two pleas of guilty, the Crown would not offer any evidence on that charge.
Nentwig’s lawyer, Saul Dismont, told the Senior Magistrate that Nentwig had been drinking and had gone to his ex-girlfriend’s house after he had heard that she was going out with another man.
In handing down the sentence, the Senior Magistrate rejected the lawyer’s suggestion that Nentwig receive a Conditional Discharge.

speak for yaself, been with my husband for 20 years and because i have no “close girlfriends” (and i prefer male company to female company) i have not had to worry about my “close girlfriends” sleeping with him or tryna stab me in the back! the key is RESPECT! Only a fool makes idle threats. Never, not once have I.ever heard of or witnessed my father threaten my mother or any female for that matter. There was a time an X and I had an argument, I went to walk away and she grabbed me, being a student of martial arts I instinctively did an escape and accidently hit her in the face, not hard at all, but I instinctively wrapped my arms around her and held her close and apologized to no end. Your b**** threatened her life. Admitting it.in court isn’t manning up, it’s playing b**** in front of a man that has your life wrapped around his finger. They have not been together for a while and he has threatened to hurt her and is obssessively jealous of anyone in her life- even the dog!! sounds to me like he’s got some mental and emotional issues he needs to deal with…this happens too much on this island. the justice system doesn’t take it as seriously as they should as he deserved more than just a fine.

When people can try and excuse threats to harm a person and burn down their home, specifying that they AND their dog are inside while the house is burning, and state that these threats are OK because people are threatened “all the time” – who knows, maybe my life and my home ARE now in danger.
Threats are not acceptable and they are a crime. That is why people can be taken to court after uttering a threat. Just because it “happens all the time” doesn’t make it right. Men molest children “all the time” and that isn’t right either. Just because it happens, doesn’t make it right, good, or even acceptable.
Sadly, there aren’t enough real men around to show boys what a “real man” is and does. Real men don’t threaten women and children. Real men don’t need to have other people be afraid of them in order to feel manly. They know who and what they are within themselves.
