Triathlete Flora Duffy Wins In South Africa
[Updated] Bermuda’s Flora Duffy claimed victory in the Totalsports XTERRA Grabouw event in South Africa in a time of 2:57:07.
The event saw the competitors complete a 1.5K Swim, a 28K Mountain Bike course and a 11K Run. Carina Wasle from Austria finished in second, while Carla Van Huyssteen from South Africa finished third.
“Pro wins are hard to come by,” said a delighted Duffy. “I was just lucky to put a good race together today. Although I was the first lady out the water, I struggled a bit, flatting in the beginning of the mountain bike discipline, but I managed to hold it together.
“I’ve been working really hard on my run and was confident that I could pull it together. When I got on the little beach section I gave a sigh of relief. This is a fantastic event, so professional, hands down the best”.
Update 12.49pm: Shadow Sports Minister Michael Weeks said, “We extend our warmest congratulations to Flora Duffy for her win at the Totalsports XTERRA event in South Africa. Over the years Ms. Duffy has made a tremendous contribution to local sports and she continues to represent Bermuda in impeccable fashion on the world stage. We congratulate Ms. Duffy on her victory and wish her even greater success in the future.”

Congrats Flora
Doesn’t the PLP have anything better to do than outpacing the Government on congratulating people???
What an achievement! Congratulations, Ms. Duffy. May you continue to go from strength to strength!
Many congrats to Flora. As I have stated previously, Gold in Glasgow is surely a possibility. Now can we all stop banging on about how talented she is.
