BELCO Issues Kite Flying Safety Reminder

In advance of the Good Friday holiday tomorrow, BELCO is reminding the public to not fly kites by power lines and also said that if you kite does happen to get tangled in a power line please call BELCO on 955, and do not attempt to remove it yourself.

A spokesperson said, “BELCO wishes to remind the public that kite flying should be done away from power lines in the interest of safety and to avoid creating power outages.

“If your kite gets tangled in power lines, do not attempt to remove it. Instead, please call 955, so that a BELCO crew can be dispatched to remove it safely. Power outages should also be phoned in to 955.

“BELCO thanks the community for their cooperation in flying kites safely, and extends best wishes for a happy Easter weekend.”
