Video: Chef Provides Free Christmas Eve Meals

December 24, 2014

[Updated with video] Bermudian chef Michiko Campbell is hard at work as he gets set to provide free meals to those in need this evening [Dec 24] in keeping with the giving spirit of the Christmas season.

Chef Campbell plans to supply enough food to feed about 300 people, with all dishes being prepared at the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club, where he is employed. The food will be served this evening at Albuoy’s Point from 5.30pm through 9.30pm.

“Christmas is a time for giving,” the young chef previously said. ”We know there are a lot of families and people that may be having a hard time, and would most appreciate a hot meal on Christmas Eve.”

Mr. Campbell is the owner and creator of the popular “Chiko’s Smokey Rub”, which has sold over 2,500 bottles since June 2014.

The young entrepreneur studied at Johnson and Wales University to become a professional chef, and while at University, he took a mixology class, beginning the path to the release of his Bermudian produced culinary product.

Update 5.52pm: Additional coverage of this evening to come, and in the meantime two photos and a Vine from the evening are below. A steady stream of people are arriving, including Premier Michael Dunkley and Senator Jeff Baron who stopped by to show support.
