The Ministry of National Security will hold a town hall meeting on immigration reform on Thursday, 19 September, between 6:30pm and 8:00pm at the Berkeley Institute.

“Minster of National Security, Wayne Caines, JP, MP, Renee Ming, MP, Christopher Famous, MP, Leah Scott, MP, Benjamin Smith and William Madeiros will discuss Comprehensive Immigration Reform and the 2019 Amendments to the Immigration Protection Bill,” the Government said.

“This is an opportunity for all members of the community to come learn and ask questions about what Government is doing to ensure a better fairer Bermuda,” said Minister Caines.

“We are holding this meeting on Thursday evening to discuss how Comprehensive Immigration Reform and the 2019 Amendments to the Immigration Protection Bill will affect Bermuda.”

Minister Caines added, “I invite the general public and business owners to come learn what we are doing and ask questions. Immigration Reform is an important step towards putting Bermudians first by balancing the legitimate expectations of Bermudians in their own land and the legitimate labour needs of businesses.”

“The public town hall meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Berkeley Institute. All are encouraged to attend and provide their comments and feedback,” the Government said.

  1. Yes Eye says:

Just have a press release . You are going to do what you want anyway. You are not truly looking for input.

    • Jt says:

It’s the night before it’s tabled. Done deal. But they will spin it as public consultation.

  2. Thank you, Minister Caines.
I clearly recall when there was a meeting about the airport, held at The City Hall, held by O.B.A.. Only specific persons could attend.
    So nasty….that O.B.A.
Your blatant nastiness, O.B.A., will not be forgotten. Your lack of democracy concerning same sex marriage, WILL NOT BE FORGOTTEN. ALL OF YOU IN THE O.B.A., lacked a democratic vision of that issue as it faced Bermuda.
May you fail to get in for DECADES. YOU ALL deserve that in the O.B.A.
    Vicious, callous, undemocratic group
Thank you, Minister Caines, for your transparency!!!

Absolutely false….why do you feel the need to lie so much?

    • Question says:

I remember the meetings that the greenshirted thugs attended to make sure there there was no civilised discussion.

    • boogie man says:

      shut up

    • Jt says:

      No no no.

      Do you recall that?

    • Ringmaster says:

When the OBA tried to hold open meetings, they were shutdown by rent a mob. The PLP have already made up their minds what they will, or rather won’t, do with long term residents and people born here, so transparency is a myth. Not just on immigration but everything else when they ask for public input. It’s the PLP who are undemocratic.

Anyone who’s been paying attention to you and has seen your remarks in various recent interviews will know that your position (and you’ve not even tried to hide it) is the immigration door is completely nailed shut . End of topic.

    remove the plp from power.

  6. Charlly X says:

Let yuh voices be Heard ? At the Meeting? Or only Seen on the blogs of media of your choice……?
