Corbishley: Property Owner Was Not Involved

February 19, 2020

Following comments on social media about a property owner after a recent shooting, Police Commissioner Stephen Corbishley has moved to clarify that the owner of the property “had no involvement in this matter.”

Commissioner Corbishley said, “On Sunday the 16th of February, following the shooting incident on Field View Lane, Pembroke, the BPS had cause to attend a property on nearby Peat Lane. This was due to information indicating that the offenders responsible had made their escape in the direction of that property.

“Enquiries were made at this property by armed officers given the nature of persons sought and I am aware photographs of police activity have been circulated across social media. However, it was soon established that the owner of the property had no involvement in this matter.

“Whilst it is necessary to conduct such enquiries in the immediate aftermath of a serious incident, I am aware that inaccurate and offensive social media comments on platforms such as Facebook, have continued against the owner of the property on Peat Lane.

“These are wholly inaccurate and I therefore make this release to correct the facts of this matter.”

I’m glad CoP Corbishley has set the record straight, because we all know how rumnours spread in Bermuda, and every time a rumour is passed on it gets embellished some more!
