Maybury: Attempted Shooting of Yankee Rawlins
24-year-old Alvone Maybury was charged in Magistrates Court today (Sept 3) with six charges relating to the shooting attempt made at Troy “Yankee” Rawlins in December 2009 on Court Street.
Mr Maybury was charged with offences including:
- Dec 16th 2009: charged with being in possession of a firearm
- Dec 16th 2009: charged with being in possession of 9mm ammunition
- Between Dec 12-16th 2009: conspiring with Anthony Swan and others not before the court to discharge a firearm
- Between Dec 12-16th 2009: conspiring with Anthony Swan and others not before the court to carry a firearm with intent to commit an indictable offence
- Between Dec 12-16th 2009: conspiring with Anthony Swan and others not before the court to unlawfully shoot a loaded firearm at Raymond Troy Rawlins
He was not required to enter a plea as the matter must be heard in Supreme Court, and was remanded in custody until September 12th when another hearing will take place. The scene outside was calm with no bystanders, while the courtoom saw a heavy Police presence. Mr Maybury was wearing a white diamond in his orange prison suit, and was chained at the wrists, waist and ankles.
These charges are not connected with separate charges laid in connection with the subsequent fatal shooting of Mr Rawlins on August 9, 2010.
