Bermuda Karate 2011 Ratings

With the Skippy KICK on November 6, the Bermuda Karate Organization concluded its 2011 series of events and the top competitors in forms have been determined by accumulated points.

They are (juniors unless otherwise specified) Ryley Mason, Anthony Leader Sr (masters), Kent Bean, Zenji Ingham (senior), Jasmyn Renfroe and Cainan Tucker. Also in descending point order, the top finishers for weapons were Garon Wilkinson (senior), Anthony Leader Sr, Kent Bean, and Chris De Fontes (senior). For sparring top competitors were Tayah Smith, Ryley Mason, Sentwali Woolridge (senior), Vernson Mills (senior), Nathaniel Simmons, Noah Botelho, and Jordan De Shields.

Competitors Kent Bean and Andrea McKey, who have excelled in local competition over the past several years, will be traveling under BKO sponsorship to Washington DC for John Chung’s World Cup Martial Arts Finals on January 13 and 14; BKO President Skipper Ingham, 81, also plans to compete in the masters forms category of this event. They will be accompanied by Kristina Ingham, BKO Secretary, and Gladwin “Roots” Phillips, BKO PRO.

Local events scheduled for 2012 are Sensei Roots’ Shiai, February 12; the 30th Bermuda Open Karate Championships, April 22; the 12th Lepercq Memorial, June 24; and the 25th Skippy KICK, November 4.
