Great job BPS…two more alleged drug pushing individuals responsible for ruining the lives of many by keeping them addicited to drugs off the streets.

    • Tommy Chong says:

The report does not state what the “significant quantity” of drugs were. Would you still pat BPS on the back if it was pounds of cannabis. I don’t know what these guys were caught with but legal alcohol & cigarettes kill more people worldwide each year than cannabis. Actually there have never been any reported deaths from cannabis in history other than those who mix it with tobacco. If you feel its still an outstanding job BPS are doing from busting cannabis dealers than what about job of keeping people safe from alcohol & cigarettes? Also what about the psychiatrist that sway parents into doping up their children with methylphenidate & their adult patients with fluoxetine & diazepam? Shouldn’t these people be locked up also?

  2. Just sayin says:

When will the Officers from the Public Protection Department of the Bermuda Police Service be coming to Ord Road. Doesn’t matter the lookouts will see them long before they get there.

    • summer lover says:

LOL! ikr! they just sit back and relax…all day!

  3. a THOUGHT says:

o man, Sound like an informer informed. If d police really wana get d drugs off the streets. TRY PAYING THE INFORMA TO GO ROUND AND BUY ALL D DRUGS WITH THE EXTRA GOVERNMENT MONEY AND STOP SENDING PEOPLE PRISON. @ LEAST ONCE A MONTH OF THAT WUD HELP CLEAN UP THE STREETS A LIL BIT

    • mmhmmm says:

wow u really didn’t think about that thought too much huh? lets clean up the streets by purchasing all the drugs ?!? What kind of dumb logic is that? why u gonna give these dealers money to buy more drugs, they would be happy to get rid of their supply all at once and not have to sit on it, and then they have all the money they need to buy more and pay their supplier.
i think we need to decriminalize cannabis so these dealers dont make as much money and afford to buy other drugs. then bust all these guys selling hard drugs and force there asses to sniff, inject, smoke and what not all their product in one sitting!! F’ wasting time prosecuting them and locking them up wasting tax payers money.

  4. DaRealest says:

its a shame that you people are happy to see someones life get thrown away because they are trying to make a living because there arent any jobs out there for us black men….hope they catch your children and you feel the same way stupid people

    • The People's Champion says:

aren’t any jobs for us black men that we’re willing to do*

and where does it say that the individuals in question are black?

      • University Grad says:

Maybe you need one of these to figure it out

        º

      • Whistling Frog says:

@ DaRealest: Please don’t speak for me cause, when someone come and robs your house and takes all your shyt be glad for them and say then you understand they didn’t have a job… Dumb azz!

      • Owner4Comment says:

Your right there are jobs but for one they are limited and for two you can’t sustain a life with most of these jobs because the pay is 2 low. So what do you have 2 say about the man that trys the right way by getting a job and suddenly he realizes that job doesn’t suffice and trys to look for a second job and is unsuccessful therefore thwarting him towards doing whats deemed illegal to suffice for bills and food on the table?? What are you going to tell him then? that you should have just been misrerable and starved instead of trying to make ends meet by any means neccessary?? We need a little bit more compassion in this island as well as understanding it’s super tough out there.

        • Truth (Original) says:

First, it is an assumption that the two arrested are in the circumstance that you describe above, unless you know them.

          2. Are you saying that under some circumstances, it is okay to sell drugs, ruin other people’s lives (including children)?

What I would recommend is eating some humble pie and doing a job that doesn’t pay much but earns an honest living and cut unnecessary expenses.

          I would happily do any of the following to put food on the table;

          Wash cars
          Cut grass
          Pack groceries
          Wash pots
          Small Painting jobs
          Yard cleaning/trash removal etc.

The compassion that you speak of needs to come from us when it is time assist others who have earnestly tried and are still coming up short. NOT for those who elected to take the easy way out and sell drugs.

The time for excuses are over. We have to accept responsibility for our poor decisions ….and the consequences thereof.

          • Owner4Comment says:

I agree with your comment and in no way is it justified because the fact is it is illegal whether one accepts or not. I, like you wish that everything was peaches and cream in everyones life and that we could all just be one big family and that we had a dope free environment but the fact is it’s not that way. I myself would do all of the above jobs you explain as well if thats what it took but there really are some dyer situations out there where certain jobs won’t cut it for the amount of mouths in the family that need to be fed and as far as circumstance is concerned your absolutely correct I don’t know the circumstances of the two in question my comments were fueled from the few people I know that have tried to regain positive positioning into society after they themselves have been in caught up but have sinced changed. So I say to everyone good luck with your struggles and may God be with you and if you choose the left side opposed to the right then it’s the chance you take.

    • wondering says:

this is a poor representation of the truth and the usual suspect is the race card……whitey made it hard for me so i will sell drugs, ruin lives so that i can have food to eat….hope that isn’t the “black” mentality! cause that’s what your implying….and yeah who said their black, stereotypical assumption i guess :(

    • OMG says:

Learn a trade, stick to the hours of work and work a full day. It is easy and you will have a job – black, white, pink or brown.
Not feck that der um not doing that!!!

    • Big D says:

Really did you post this comment. Just shows how far we have decayed as a society. Good work BPS. Bermuda is grateful for your hard work making our kids safe by removing dangerous drugs and criminals from our streets. THANK YOU!!!

    • wallawalla says:

Typical excuse… im pretty sure these that these individuals made the decision to allegedly sell drugs long before they ever looked for a job. Where did it say these two are black. Many of our youth sell drugs because they think it is cool or makes them hard , powerful, or rich. Regardless,of why they do it …it’s still a crime. They are called pushers for a reason. I’m happy that two more people wont be pushing their product on any more of our youth.

    • Rard says:

What a ridiculous comment. You are defending “making a living” by selling drugs and contributing to the island’s FREE FALL???? Are you serious???

    • Sinking feeling says:

This is the dumbest comment and you are an idiot. Since when has selling drugs been a job. Why can’t they go wash some pots or clean some hotel rooms like honest hard working people. And don’t tell me the foreigners have taken all the jobs, if they seek one then they will have to send home at least two foreigners for the jobs these drug dealers so desperately wanted, oh wait they would rather sell drugs. Lock their stupid a$$es up

      • Tommy Chong says:

I agree with you that DaRealest comments are dumb but its not true that if a Bermudian applies for a job employers have to send the foreign workers packing. Its only when the foreign workers work permit is up that the employer is supposed to put an ad up advertising the job. Immigration & government has left loopholes in this law because an employer only has to put one ad in one media type. Therefor if an unemployed bermudian can’t afford internet & the ads on an online site or they are not savvy on where to look the ad gets past by. Their are some employers that hope for this so they can renew the foreign workers permit or get another foreign worker. Another thing employers do is ad hype up requirements to ads like a pot washer must have two years experience as a waiter at another place of employment initially. NOBODY needs two years experience to know how to wait on tables just onsite training. An example of this is Spring Gardens ad here http://www.royalgazette.com/section/jobs just incase my two biggest fans mad dawg & rick rock want to contest me. This is why gang leaders do so well in recruiting young Bermudians not an excuse or justification just a fact. So in actuality the only job a Bermudian without a degree has a standing chance at getting is car washing which the government has made illegal in Hamilton.

    • Owner4Comment says:

I agree it really is sad to see because people make mistakes in life and sometimes you can never recover fully and any new change in ones self could prove 2 be exempt from the exception of others because of the unscricpted judges that walk around in the civi crowd, sad but so.

    • nelly boi says:

ya an F****** Idiot.. just plain and simple. Idiot.

  5. Marcella says:

    Opinions are like A$$*****!!!

  6. Whistle Blower says:

Can you PLEASE come to the entrance of WELLINGTON SLIP ROAD this drug pushers are gathering there again as well as across the street on the stoop of the corner store peddling drugs!!!!

  7. Owner4Comment says:

I’m not saying I agree with the ways of the folk in question but you have to admit that sometimes we are faced with extremely hard decisions in life especially when it comes to surviving. I don’t agree with the robberies the killings the dope selling but to be blunt and realistic this world is full of flaws and people are sometimes going to take risk for thier survival it’s call self preservation. I will say this though, to those that do this just because meaning they have the means for survival and purely do it out of greed then I’m sorry but you’ve got 2 pay. My prior comments have been fueled from knowing a few people that were in similar predicaments and to this day their sorry for it but it just seems that nobody seems to except their change and I feel sorry for them because if you were to meet them before and after you’d think that they were totally different people and see how they’ve made the transition from bad to good so basically I’m talking from a person that believes everyones is entitled to change at some point in their life if they have faultered continuously in the past. God forgives so who are you not to?

    • Candid says:

After reading these comments I applaud the individuals who are open and honest in a positive way. I will encourage the individuals that support dope selling as a way of making a living whether in hard or good times to re think the effects that it has on the society on a whole. It messes up the economy as the proceeds are un accounted for and pushes up prices du to the seemingly availability of funds. It erodes families and family values when a child gets hooked and starts stealing to support the habit. It causes strain on the resources namely rehabilitation and the courts. The people who support these alleged dope dealers are supporting the pushers Denial of Responsibilities by stating that they are not responsible for selling the dope and therefore blames it on the economy/job market. They support the denial of victim theory by claiming that the users deserved what they got because they didn’t force them to use it. They also effect the condemnation of the condemner theory by stating that people can’t or should not judge them or trying to compare the gravity of the crime of drug pushing to murder. A crime is a crime and can never be legitimized as it’s derived by deviant behaviour which breaks the norms of society. In Short, drug dealers deserve what they get as is the reward of any other crimes. Don’t do the crime if you dont want to do the time. Should everyone sell drugs because they cant find a job? We would become a nation of junkies.

  8. VJ says:

@DaRealest…do you realize why a lot of black men don’t have jobs? Substance abuse!!! Have you ever thought about the flip side of the coin- the lives of those that use drugs? For the families it is pure hell!!! While the drug dealer is making big bucks, somebody’s rent isn’t getting paid or somebody’s child is going without supper. I could tell you many a horror story as I had a family member addicted to drugs. If only you knew….I have zero sympathy!!!

    • Tommy Chong says:

A lot of Bermudians have substance abuse problems but they don’t all stem from drugs sold by dealers on the street. Many are alcoholics so shouldn’t bar tenders & store clerks who sell alcohol to a known substance abuser be scrutinized just as much as a drug dealer. Another thing is that out of the 2000 unemployed in bermuda less than half of those are substance abusers. Bermuda is slowly sinking into western ghetto institutionalization & its not just drug dealers who have contributed to this downward spiral.

  9. Just sayin says:

to make money, cut grass don’t sell it.

  10. king says:

Y u people assume stuff like I knw the people n the news got all the info wrong first there ages secondly it wasn’t no quantity of drugs like wat is a few spliffs personal use like police worry about the wrong things like simple stuff worry wats destroyin this island this politicians who put us in debt n yes I’m a young black educated man been college and got my own business worry bout the killings n how to stop it n bernews get ur news correct n others judging my n$#@a worry bout ur family I’m sure ur kid smokes or commits sins like

    • QRS says:

You ACTUALLY went to college? Really? Well do me a favour, try using whole words, punctuations and correct speach because reading what you wrote, you sound very UNEDUCATED

  11. Lust for Life says:

    If there wasn’t a high demand…they wouldn’t sell it….
If they couldn’t access it…there wouldn’t be anything to sell…
It is all a vicious cycle, no matter how you look at it. We all lose,
    while the ‘big suppliers’ win…

  12. wake up people says:

First of all i would just like to throw it out there, why is everybody assuming the suspects are black :-( The biggest drug busts are hardly ever black people. The black people are just the small guppies in the pool. And the main people that are supplying the large quatity of drugs, definately do not live Ord Road, or Parsons Road. They are the faces behind construction companies and firms. Thier kids are going private school. Lets not make this a racial thing, seriously.

  13. PawPaw says:

The assumption is that the suspects are black is because of the area in which they live.

It is common knowledge that the areas of Broken Hill Lane, Broken Hill Road, Ramgoat Hill and Sommersall Road are notorious for drug trafficking and drug use. To say that black people are just the small guppies in the pool is somewhat passé. I don’t think that condoning drug dealing, no matter what your racial background is acceptable. But the drug dealing in that area of Smiths has been occurring for years and it is time for it to be stopped and the guilty to be brought before the courts and convicted.
