Knowledge Quest Celebrates 10th Anniversary

Knowledge Quest Ltd, a college education scholarship charity that helps Bermudian students of limited financial means attend universities abroad, celebrated its 10th Anniversary with an event last week at Bacardi Ltd.

Attending were Knowledge Quest graduates, current students, donors and family members. The evening commenced with donors and scholars assembling for an anniversary photo opportunity with 100 cupcakes.

Co-Chairman Kathy Lines welcomed home students and alumni and thanked long time sponsors and Bacardi for their steadfast support of Bermuda future leaders. She thanked the Board and Co-Chairman Cynthia Cox, whose idea it was to start the needs based educational charity that has in ten years helped over 140 students attend college, and with the help of corporate and individual donations raise over $2 million dollars.

She pointed out that Knowledge Quest is somewhat unique in that each and every dollar raised goods directly toward s the cost of supporting college education. She also acknowledged the generosity of corporate and individual donors as well as the Green Family Trust for their strong and continuing support of Knowledge Quest and education. She also acknowledged, Barry University student (nursing) and 100 cupcake creator Khamani Fox for her special celebration idea.

Co-Chairman Cynthia Cox shared 10th anniversary milestones including the fact that approximately 40 students are currently being helped by Knowledge Quest and over 100 have graduated with the financial assistance of Knowledge Quest.

For the 10th anniversary Knowledge Quest has participated in the Argus Walk, The Island Challenge, Big Brothers and Big Sisters seminars and tonight announced the launch of the Alan Titus scholarship in memory of inspirational fundraiser and Knowledge Quest mentor Allan Titus. Attendees also heard from mentors and mentees regarding their positive experiences.

During its first 10 years Knowledge Quest has raised over $2 million dollars from corporate and individual donors enabling over 140 Bermudian students, who otherwise would not have sufficient funds, to attend university abroad. Knowledge Quest has also provided mentors and network support for each student.
