Drunk Driving: Man Admits Causing Bodily Harm

Mikai Fubler, 24, who, last week pleaded not guilty to two charges involving a car and cycle accident and an allegation of driving whilst impaired, re-appeared in yesterday’s Plea Court.

He pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm by driving his car when the level of alcohol in his blood exceeded the legal limit and was fined $2,000 and disqualified from driving all vehicles for 24 months.

Crown Prosecutor Cindy Clarke told Senior Magistrate Archie Warner that the alco-anayzer test that was administered shortly after the accident showed that Fubler had 105mg of alcohol in 100ml of blood. To investigating police, Fubler had admitted having had an ‘Elephant ‘and two other drinks.

The accident had occurred around 11:30pm on 25th June 2013 at the junction of Tee Street and South Road, Devonshire. The young woman was struck by Fubler’s car and ended up with a fractured thigh bone and damage to her mouth. Fubler was alleged to have left the scene but to have returned shortly after and enquire after the young woman’s health.
