    • Whats really up? says:

Like whats going on at Clarien Bank with all these top new people leaving…thats the third or fourth in short order….hhmmmmm.

      • Politically Incorrect says:

        He barely made his probation!

        • Black Soil says:

Maybe Mark was faced with having to actually work. What a joke. He should stay with defending scum bags. Eeeasy $$ there!!

    • Kunta says:

Well at least he can find a job, cant say much for Paula Cox!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
      SMFH

    • Yahoo says:

After three months, they had to give up trying to get his massive ego through the door…

  2. Conservative says:

I always wondered why a criminal litigation lawyer would take a General Counsel role which is exclusively corporate law, so they would be justified finding someone more closely qualified to the actual job description.

Like all things we will learn how, why, when in the coming weeks

    • Creamy says:

Why do you think we “will learn” any more about it? A person resigned from a private company. They’ve already told us more than they had to.

  3. Fur Real says:

The Man is Master of his own destiny and always seems to land on his feet when he makes a move…will watch this one with interest!

  4. Golly says:

Has anyone seen him since he was elected. I mean anyone in the area where he ran? answer no. so maybe he stepped down from Clarien to get on the doorstep to represent the people who voted for him.

    • Raymond Ray says:

Well Mark, that would be a good starting point…
I’d imagine there’s more dollars in representing those that are considered criminals, since you’re an expert :-)

    • Warwick Res says:

I have a few times…have you called him? He was right there when we did!

      • Rayki Emery says:

I stay #26 Spring Hill Warwick I have NEVER NOT ONCE SEEN this guy EVER in my neighbourhood.

What I can say is that when myself and maybe 15 or so of my friends used to sit on cobbs hill in paget Dale Butler who was the MP for #25 at the time walked across the effin border to paget where people couldn’t vote for him if they wanted to and handed out multiple job applications ranging from government post to waiting posistions at MEF. From Dale giving me my application I’ve since worked at 3 differnent resturants and it helped me to create a secure second option for a career.

MARK HAS DONE NO SUCH THING! Warwick residnt obviously you don’t live in the poorer parts of #25 like Spring Hill, Morgans Road where Dale Butler did everything he possibly could to ensure that we would be employed.

Also when Jason Lightbourne was murdered Dale came and gave us, Jason’s friends, his condonlences, not one member of the UBP came to do so.

I’m still in disbelief that Mark won. No I’m not a PLP supporter nor a Member of the Party so I’m not being biased. Mark Pettingale does not deserve to be our MP he has done absolutly jack s*** for my community.

I lie about never seeing him, I saw him shopping in lindos once after the election, he had no clue that I was one of his constiuents when I approached him and introduced me self.

        • Gun Slinger says:

You sound like you want everything handed to you on a silver platter.

        • Warwick Res says:

So call him and say what you need doing, we did and he got it done and I know other people that did the same thing and he was there…and I also live in one of the areas you mention AND I voted for Dale and he got well beat cause of the PLP!!! I ain’t so worried about the BS of how often I see an MP so what as long as he can get things done and my experience is this guy does. Smart he may be but not a mind reader so get his number easy enough and call and say what your problem is…you might be surprised I bet…but if you don’t take action to ask a question then don’t expect the answer to just come to you! Just like a job…you gotta apply not complain you aint working!

          • Whistling Frog says:

You must be his drinking buddy… I’ve called and left plenty of messages and I haven’t heard jack from him…

          • Rayki Emery says:

I have two jobs, and its apperent that you didn’t understand what it was I said. What I said is I HAVE NOT ONCE SEEN MARK PETTINGAL IN #25. I’m not asking anyone for anything, we didn’t ask dale to come hand out job apps he did it because he cared. I’ve never asked any government in this island for anything and I sure as hell wouldn’t be asking Mr. Pettingal for anything.

He’s never been to warwick workmens to address the residents, even after dale lost he addressed us. He doesn’t know anything about our community and I’m sure he could care less.

        • C says:

Kinda understand your point. I hv lived in Devonshire all my life and am now in my 50″s. I hv only seen my plp representative 3 times since voting age . Guess it works both ways. Same game different players. It’s called politics.

          • Triangle Drifter says:

Also a Devonshire bye here. Hace seen a PLP rep maybe twice since the early seventies.

Have seen the UBP, now OBA people numerous times over those years. Even had David Saul interupt a jog for a chat one time, when he was Premier.

On the rare occasion that one was made I always had phone calls responded to by the rep in person.

        • George says:

He’s probably offended you can’t even take the time to spell his name correctly – so why should he take the time to come see you?! i.e. Mark Pettingale

        • betty trump l furbert [not real] says:

while I’m no PLP person either, I think everyone knows that Dale Butler is one of the people in the PLP party that actually cares about people on the island and not himself or the party to such an extent.

          • Luis Suarez says:

Agreed, Dale Butler is one of the good guys. But the PLP didn’t want that or him. The leadership vote was just embarrassing. And look where it got them and us.

          • Raymond Ray says:

I agree, Mr. Dale Butler is a “real person” one who has feelings for them who are less fortunate than he is.Thank God for people like you Mr. Dale Butler :-)

        • NITTY GRITTY says:

Yah I was gonna say, ever heard the phrase
‘Its not what your country can do for you, its what you can do for your country’
Hanging out is not a job and why arent YOU giving me a job? HUH?
What, its always someone else’s obligation?
Why not you , yeah you! Give me a job! I am entitled to a job, why won’t YOU give me one??

        • Cleancut says:

Dale Butler knows how to stroke the public. It takes talent and time to win a seat, and dale knows how to play to the crowd, but when you vote for him and he sits behind the big desk with those six figures rolling into his bank account, who do you think is having the last laugh?

          • Rayki Emery says:

Disagree with you. I actually said that to Dale’s face a few years ago, this is after he gave me a job and he called a meeting at Bright Temple Church to address our concerns.

    • Kunta says:

My hunch is it was because of Jet Gate or a Kool Aid drinker.

  5. Truth Tells says:

Corporate Games! Their top U.S CEO who hired him left as did a couple of others….sounds like something new in the making and all is not well at Clarien!

  6. One up says:

IF he goes back into criminal practice (but I bet a corporate gig is lined up with better $$$) all those worried PLP will be calling him just like they did before!!!!

  7. Whats really up? says:

One of the new owners left in July, the CEO Fortak left in July (also an owner), the CLO leaves now…I would not wonder whats up with Pettingill but whats up with Clarien….watch this space, Pettingill will be in a top job by end of Summer!

    • Trulytruly says:

You’re right. Finding a top job will be very easy for him. A failure he is not.

  8. Keepin' it Real!...4Real! says:

hey!…how do you keep a fool in suspense….?

  9. on my flight says:

he will land on his feet. he was on my flight with not a worry nor stress mark on him

  10. J says:

Not surprised. I wondered what the attraction was to the bank in the first place. Best move for him I am certain.

  11. Fun Slinger says:

THe Guy is a decent and smart man who deserves to land on his feet, anybody who thinks he’s just a “pit bull” lawyer never really met him and spoke with him!

  12. pressing the flush says:

why is everyone so freaking interested in this guy,
what he does is his business and he’s certainly not interested in you ,me or anyone else.

    • Warwick Res says:

I dont think thats fair, I know that he does take an interest in peoples issues and problems,,,they have but to ask. Good question though, why the freaking interest? thats the interesting question…love him or hate him people are interested in him…guess thats why he succeeds!

    • Hurricane says:

@ pressing the flush, we are always interested in “public figures”………duhhhhhhhh

    • Tricks are For Kids says:

It’s not a matter of being “interested” in him….He is a PUBLIC figure…he is in a LEADERSHIP capacity……so when anything about him reaches the PUBLIC arena……It Than becomes PUBLIC BUSINESS it is no longer HIS business……

    • Rayki Emery says:

Its no longer his business when he’s an elected official.

      Its the “peoples business”.

      Simple.

      • Creamy says:

No. When he does something in a private capacity, like take a job with a private company, or resign from a private company, it’s his own business.
        Simple.

  13. BDAGIRL says:

Just maybe the banking world was not for him. He is an excellent lawyer. Just like Kim Wilson, she also was the Attorney General and went to work for a Law Firm and left that practice and went elsewhere. Both brilliant Bermudian lawyers entitled to move on.

  14. Truth is killin' me... says:

Lawyers are best left alone. The more you see them the more you pay.

  15. It is written says:

Maybeeeee those bank boys wanted him to attend a church service. We all know what he thinks about them.

  16. WTF says:

I’ve known Mark since before he was admitted to the Bar. He’s always been a very hard worker, driven to succeed and a go-getter. He’ll no doubt land something more to his liking…I just couldn’t seem him in a corporate structure!! The back story on Clarien is no doubt quite interesting, I’d think….stay tuned.

  17. Terry says:

    Operation Pressure Cooker.

Maybe some ex Government official is pulling strings.

  18. Coffee says:

The bank job was just a distraction from the main attraction …. Jetgate !

    • X man says:

Thats what there saying – Jet Gate escape – many believe that.

  19. Sayitaintso says:

Why must someone else find you a job?… That comment baffled me. Get the lead out, get motivated and find a job yourself. Smh. As for Mr. Pettingill, he is entitled to make his career decisions. It is his life

  20. X man says:

Some believe the job was only and escape route out from the recent political rumblings. – or the Bank is about to
make some bold or radical steps and he dosnt want any parts of it..
Only three Months on the Job is going to cause a lot of speculation.— and suspicion.

    • pureeegrance says:

And some people believe in santa…the tooth fairy…the easter bunny…

  21. Cleancut says:

Maybe Paula Cox applied for the job and has complained. Mind you Paula is only comfortable working for the big big boys. There are a few ex PLP members out there unable to find work, I wonder why!

  22. MAKE MY DAY says:

This guy does NOT appear to be very “stable”… Does he?? And as far as the *Jetgate* affair was concerned – not too much “common sense” was used for that excursion – by a so-called smart attorney!!

    One has to wonder!!

  23. Anastacia Curling says:

Only in this racist country do you see disgraced white politicians resign and then be given a windfall – only to then fall on their behind again and the people say well done, he always lands on his feet. Double Standards ah, You Lot Stand for nothing and Fall for anything!

  24. Ace girl says:

This is what happens when two of a kind come together. Clarien Bank does not appear to be the upstanding Capital G and the former AG has his own history.
