United Celebrates 25 Years Flying To Bermuda
United Airlines is celebrating 25 years of service to Bermuda, and hosted a 25th anniversary celebration yesterday, in which airline executives presented a scale model of a B-737-800 to the Minister of Tourism and Transport.
The airline operates daily flights between Bermuda and its New York hub, Newark Liberty International Airport, with onward connections to cities throughout the Americas. The flights are operated using Boeing 737-800 aircraft with 154 seats — 16 in United First, 48 in Economy Plus and 90 in Economy.
During yesterday’s 25th Anniversary celebration of United Airlines serving the Bermuda market, airline executives presented a scale model of a B-737-800 to the Minister of Tourism and Transport Shawn Crockwell.

“We are thrilled to celebrate this silver anniversary of service to Bermuda,” said Millie Uriarte, United’s Director Latin Onshore and Caribbean Sales. “We are grateful to our customers and the travel industry in Bermuda who have made United their preferred airline over the past quarter-century.”
“On behalf of the Bermuda Government and the Ministry of Tourism Development & Transport we congratulate United Airlines on their 25 years of service to Bermuda,” said Minister of Tourism Development & Transport Shawn Crockwell.
“Over the years Bermuda and United Airlines have developed a very strong and mutually beneficial relationship and we look forward to continuously working with United to strengthen our relationship as Bermuda revitalizes its tourism industry.”
25? Has it been that long already? Seems like yesterday we were dealing with Pan Am and Eastern
Here’s hoping for a bright future.
I am upset they are not flying between Dec. to April
Too bad the daily flight to Newark is going away for the winter season :’(
I do understand the economics behind it and agree that the NYC area is well-serviced at present. Still, nothing wrong with having options
Are you kidding me? United comes down here and presents Bermuda with a token of the 25 year anniversary with comments about the valued relationship they have with Bermuda. If it’s so valued, then why are they pulling out for four months? I can understand reducing the number of flights, but to completely suspend service? I am NOT feeling the love!!!
The days of Pan Am flying daily 747 out of NY & Eastern flying flying a daily L1011 are long gone. The demand simply is not there.
What would you like United to do? Fly one of their 35 seat regional jets?
My fave airline!
I wonder how many actual “heads-in-beds” real tourists they brought to the Island over that 25 yr period!!! Were ALL those flights cost-effective??
Nice of United to celebrate 25 years by canceling service for four months! What’s going to happen to all the local United employees? From what I gather, if they are let go for three months, they’ll have to be retrained. And how about the business travelers and tourists who travel to the island in the winter? Doesn’t reducing the number of flights make more sense than not flying at all for those four months?!
