Photos: Digicel TriFest & ITU Continental Cup

The Digicel TriFest & ITU Continental Cup triathlon event took place today [April 9] in Hamilton with strong performances in all age fields and spectators gathering to watch the athletes.

The ITU Continental Cup Elite Male race was won by Eli Hemming from the United States with a time of 55:14. Fellow American Jason West was second in 55:21 and Canadian Alexis Lepage finished third in 56:00. Unfortunately Tyler Smith was unable to complete the race due to an injury.

Canada’s Dominika Jamnicky won the Elite Women’s race stopping the clock in 1:02:28. Kaitlin Donner from the United States of America finished second in 1:02:53 while Emy Legault from Canada finished third in 1:03:06. Erica Hawley was 7th crossing the line in 1:06:55.

Matthew Oliveira won the Digicel TriFest Adult Open race clocking a time of 1:05:53. Matt Thompson finished second in 1:07:40 and Byron Rencken finished third in 1:10:47. Karen Smith was the first female finisher and 6th overall with a time of 1:11:30. Marie-lyne Dore was the second female finisher and 13th overall while the third female finisher was Aine O’Sullivan who recorded a time of 1:17:50 and placed 15th overall.
