Photos & Video: Scallywag Takes Line Honours
Finishing in just under 81 hours, Scallywag has taken Line Honours in the 2019 Antigua Bermuda Race after crossing the finish line first, off the east end of the island before motoring in to St. George’s Harbour.
Australian skipper David Witt has competed in multiple Volvo Ocean Races and spoke with Bernews on his arrival at Bermuda Yacht Services at Ordnance Island.
The race website says, “Supermaxi SHK Scallywag (HKG) has taken Line Honours in the 2019 Antigua Bermuda Race in an elapsed time of 80 hours 54 mins 21 seconds.”
The 2019 Antigua Bermuda Race got underway on May 8th with teams representing over a dozen countries including the USA, Canada, UK, Antigua & Barbuda, Australia, Hong Kong, France, Italy, Sweden, Switzerland, Russia, the Netherlands and Germany setting off for the 935 nautical-mile ocean race from Antigua for Bermuda.
This is the third edition of the Antigua Bermuda Race and it is a part of the 2019 Atlantic Ocean Racing Series [AORS].
The 2019 Atlantic Ocean Racing Series consists of five races: RORC Caribbean 600, Antigua Bermuda Race, Transatlantic Race 2019, Rolex Fastnet Race, and Rolex Middle Sea Race. Three races, including the Transatlantic Race [weighted 1.5] will be required to qualify.
