Gaelic Football Club Matches Set For Today
The Gaelic Football Club, which recently received official accreditation from the GAA governing body in Ireland as an overseas club, is getting set to play matches on the North Field at National Stadium today [Oct 3], with the women’s match starting at 3.00pm and the men’s match starting at 4.15pm.
A spokesperson said, “The matches will feature men and women from multiple different countries including Australia, Bermuda, Canada, England, Ireland, Scotland, and Wales. Former Bermuda international striker Antwan Russell is penciled in for his eagerly anticipated debut in the forwards.
“A number of current Bermuda men’s international football players were hoping to play but can’t this time around due to Premier League commitments; we hope to see them involved at our next match.
“Participation is open to players of any and all experience and fitness levels. A $15 fee is requested from all participants to cover the cost of the field.
“If interested in playing in the ladies match, please contact Elaine McHugh at elaine.mchugh@hotmail.com; for anyone wishing to play in the men’s match, please contact Ronan Quinn at ronan.quinn418@gmail.com or Colin Ryan at colinryan@rcsi.ie.
“The match will be followed by an AGM to decide upon committee members for the coming year.
“Covid guidelines will be strictly adhered to at all times and attendees will be asked to use the hand sanitizer available, maintain social distancing and mask-wearing when not playing, and provide contact details for track-and-trace purposes.”
