November 1, 2022

Do you have an exciting and unique business concept for a pop-up food concession? If so, then you may be interested to know that the City of Hamilton is currently inviting submissions for a new food concession in the City.

The City issued its Request for Proposal [RFP] today, Tuesday November 1st, 2022, as part of its Food Concession Programme which seeks to enhance the vibrancy of the City and cater to the working public.

“The vendor locations will be Victoria Park, Queen Elizabeth Park, Wesley Square, Dr. E.F. Gordon Square, Laffan Street & Front Street.

“The City will consider proposals on a case-by-case basis and will only consider food concessions that do not directly compete with any existing businesses in the surrounding areas of the eligible locations,” explained the City’s Venue & Rentals Coordinator Lorna Hayward.

“The food concession must provide an added value to the area in terms of diversity of available options, vibrancy, customer experience and aesthetics.”

A spokesperson said, “The initial lease for the granted facility will be one year [January 1, 2023 to December 31, 2023]. The rent for the food concession facility is $800 per quarter.

“Digital proposals only will be accepted and must be emailed to lhayward@cityhall.bm. All proposals must be submitted no later than 5:00pm on November 29, 2022. Leases will be awarded, and the successful applicant notified no later than December 12, 2022 and are expected to start operations on January 2, 2023.

“Interested vendors may obtain the RFP document by emailing the City’s Venue & Rentals Coordinator Lorna Hayward at lhayward@cityhall.bm.”

I don’t mind food trucks (“roach coaches”) on the street next to a park, but they destroy the atmosphere of the park when they are allowed inside the park (as is currently the case with Victoria Park).

This is coming from a taxpayer, Mr. Gosling.
