Janita Burke To Release ‘Jesus Is The Champion’
Janita Burke will be introducing her new song “Jesus is the Champion”this Friday [Oct 27].
A spokesperson said, “Janita Burke is thrilled to introduce her uplifting and victorious anthem, “Jesus is the Champion”. This inspiring song, born out of a miraculous moment and a mission trip to Ghana, is set to resonate with hearts worldwide.
“The story behind “Jesus is the Champion” is a testament to the power of faith, music, and the unifying force of a great melody. The journey began on July 26, 2022, when Janita received a Divine download of a victory song for her team, the Somerset Cricket Club. With an unmistakable sense of urgency, she knew it had to be ready to be played on the second day of the Annual Cup Match Classic.
“As she penned the words to this victory song, a new revelation dawned upon her. It was not just a celebratory tune for a cricket club; it was a praise song. The lyrics to “Jesus is the Champion” flowed effortlessly into her consciousness. Initially, Janita did not act upon these lyrics, but destiny had a different plan.
“In December of that year, while on a Missions Trip to His Majesty’s Happy Home and Orphanage in Ghana, Janita was tasked with directing a newly formed children’s choir. It was during this journey that the purpose of “Jesus is the Champion” became crystal clear. The children’s choir, then unnamed, fell in love with the song, and they performed it in Ghana at church services and events under the name Champion Voices, coined by their area Pastor.
“Janita’s dream was to record the song with Champion Voices, but logistical challenges arose in getting the children to a studio. In a stroke of serendipity, they enlisted the talents of Nigerian songstress Yinka Davies to help bring the song to life. The musical maestro, Abimbola Bademosi, meticulously crafted the music, infusing it with a unique sound that radiates praise for the true Champion, Jesus Christ.
“‘Jesus is the Champion’ is not just a song; it’s a testament to faith, unity, and the power of music to transcend boundaries. In its original format, as a victory anthem for the Somerset Cricket Club Cup Match team, no self-respecting ‘east islander’ would ever deign to sing the tune. It has, however, been transformed into a universal message of victory and celebration. As Janita’s friend, a St. George’s fan, remarked, “This is a song that people from all walks of life can embrace and celebrate.” Indeed, it has already been embraced halfway around the world.
“Janita is excited to share this song with a wider audience. She hopes that everyone, everywhere, will sing, dance, and join in the celebration of the fact that “Jesus is the Champion.”
