Video: Sunday Oct 8th “Good News” Spotlight
News that the Bermuda National Robotics Team will be competing in the first Global National Robotics Olympics in Singapore, the BTA is “thrilled” that Bermuda was ranked number one by Condé Nast, Selina Wellman, Nisha Samuels, Lucy Costa, Keema Wilson, and Dionne Trott received Professional Administrative Certification of Excellence awards, Dr. Jonathan Makajuola received recognition at the 2023 Caribbean Golden Awards for co-founding the Daily Male Free Men’s Clinic, and Paula Costa-Medeiros, Kirk Hyde, Shiloh Robinson, Sari Smith, and Shania Wedderburn were awarded Athene Scholarships were all some of the positive news stories from the past week.
In additional good news, Nia Christopher was named Coastal Athletic Association Offensive Player of the Week, Bermuda beat Cayman and Panama in the ICC Men’s T20 World Americas Qualifier, Djair Parfitt-Williams scored again in Finland, Mia Fishel scored in the Chelsea women debut, and Joshua Joseph, Tre Burgess, Shane Robinson and their Thomas College men’s soccer teammates defeated the University of Maine Presque Isle by a score of 4 – 0.
Other good news stories included Planet Math getting set to host car wash fundraisers, the Rose Bell Society celebrating its 100th anniversary, the Bermuda National Library holding its Big Book Sale, Hamilton Princess & Beach Club being named the “top ranked hotel in Bermuda within the Atlantic Islands category” by Condé Nast Traveler’s 2023 Readers’ Choice Awards, and Tia Crockwell of OnSight Optometry, Kisha Tyrrell of Enzuri Beauty & Wellness, Davida O’Brien of Vida Fusions, and Sabriuna Wilkinson of Nurture Laiche all receiving $25,000 grants.
