Four Bermudians Earn King’s New Years Honours

King Charles III has recognized Kimberley Durrant, Roger Parris, Clarence “Sam” Santucci, and Archdeacon the Ven. Rev. Andrew Doughty in the annual New Years Honours, with all four receiving the King’s Certificate and Badge of Honour.

A Government spokesperson said, “The following Bermudians have been recognized in the 2024 New Years Honours.

• Kimberley Durrant – for Public Service [London Office, Government of Bermuda]
• Roger Parris – for Services to the Community;
• Clarence “Sam” Santucci – for Services to the Community;
• Archdeacon the Ven. Rev. Andrew Doughty – for Services to the Community;

“Kimberley Durrant has served as the Director of the London Office since 2009, and has presided over its establishment as a respected and integral part of the Government of Bermuda’s overseas engagement.

“She has been elected Chairman of the UK Overseas Territories Association [UKOTA] on three occasions and has also served as the chair of the UKOTA Financial Services Sub-Committee. In her role as the Government’s representative in the UK, Ms Durrant has ensured the critical delivery of consular services to numerous Bermudians living, working and studying in the UK. During her years of service, she has supported several Premiers, Governors and numerous Ministers of the Government of Bermuda who have visited the UK to oversee matters on behalf of the island. And most notably in recent years, Ms Durrant and has been at the forefront of the negotiations for the BREXIT MOU between the British OTs and EU Overseas countries and territories.

“Roger Parris and Sam Santucci are jointly credited with starting the Skills Development Programme in 2011, following a firearms incident. As foremen within the Department of Parks, through the Skills Development Programme they mentor at risk young men and women by providing them with horticultural training. Roger and Sam are passionate about the Skills Development Programme and have leveraged their partnerships with UK trade institutions to help further the young participants’ training and devlopment.

“Over the years dozens of young people have graduated from the programme and have gone on to obtain full-time employment.

“Thanks to the programme’s success, Roger and Sam have forged local lasting partnerships with the Garden Club of Bermuda and other public and private sector entities to ensure its continuity.

The Ven. Andrew Doughty B.D., A.K.C

“Archdeacon Andrew Doughty has spent 40 years in the service of the Anglican Church both in England and Bermuda.

“The Ven. Doughty was appointed Archdeacon of Bermuda in 2004 and set about his mission as a parish priest and overseer of the administrative functions of all Anglican churches of the Diocese. For the last 28 years, he has served at St. Mary’s Church, Warwick. He has been an outstanding parish priest, extending his care, compassion and support to countless families, often visiting the sick, comforting the bereaved or helping the homeless.

“The Ven. Doughty has been praised for his ability to engage with people from all walks of life and across all faiths. During his tenure, he has served Bermuda’s community with humility, enthusiasm, innovation, scholarship, and integrity.

“His wider community involvement has seen him be a founding member of the Warwick Ministerial Alliance; he also served on the National Drug Commission; served as a trustee of Heydon; served as the Bermuda Police chaplain; and mentored staff and pupils at the Purvis Primary School.”
