Cruise Ship Diverts Due To Sick Passenger
On Tuesday [April 23] the cruise ship Oasis of the Seas — which was traveling from the USA to Spain — diverted to Bermuda as a 69-year-old passenger required urgent medical attention.
A Bermuda Maritime Operations Centre spokesperson said, “Tuesday 23rd April 7:00pm – Bermuda Maritime Operations Centre received notification from local ships agents Meyers, advising that the Bahamas Registered RCCL cruise ship Oasis of the Seas, was proceeding to Bermuda to transfer a 69-year-old US national passenger suffering from a medical condition, that required urgent medical attention ashore.
“The Oasis of the Seas was on passage from Miami, USA bound for Cadiz in Spain. Coordinating with the local A&E Department at KEMH. The Oasis of the Seas arrived offshore at the East End at 1am, with the medico transfer being accompanied by a member of the ships medical team to Ordnance Island, the patient was then safely transferred by ambulance to hospital for medical treatment.”
