Bermuda Walls To Hold First Mural Festival
Bermuda Walls will hold its debut mural festival in Hamilton next weekend on the 13th and 14th of April.
A spokesperson said, “This two-day event promises to be a celebration of art, culture and community. It will feature the collaborative efforts of six talented local artists working with four esteemed international street artists. Together, they will create stunning new murals, shaped by their unique styles and perspectives, across the Butterfield & Vallis building on Woodlands Road and the streets of Hamilton. A map of the new murals will be shared on the @BermudaWalls Instagram page ahead of the event.
“The local artists featured are: Alshante Foggo; Shanna Hollis; Robyn Hooper; DaeNyce ‘Keile’ Rabain; Carlos Santana and Jabarri Wilson. They will be joined by international muralists Bacon, BK Foxx, CHNK, Hiero and Lauren YS. The artists will begin painting the artwork in the days running up to the festival, so the public should keep their eyes peeled while in town.
“Taking place over next Saturday and Sunday, the public is invited to witness the artistic process of these talents while enjoying a day of family friendly celebration. Attendees can look forward to live DJs, skateboard demonstrations by Isolated, pop-a-wheelie competitions hosted by Mr Fotogenik, gombeys, face painting, airbrush tattoos and much more. For those looking to make a day of it, food and drink will be available from local food trucks, including Ashley’s Lemonade, Hot Dog Delight, Bermuda Cupcake Company, Paco’s Tacos, J&B’s Wood Fired Pizza, Jor Jay’s and Alkaline Triangle.”
The concept of the event came about due to a personal connection, Spencer Butterfield, CEO of Butterfield and Vallis and Co-Founder of Bermuda Walls, explains, “The idea of Bermuda Walls has been kicking around for a long time as a family friend is Glayson Leroy, owner Wynwood Mural Fest – a wonderful celebration of street art and graffiti in Miami. For years we’ve dreamt about bringing that energy and creativity to Bermuda. This year, at last, with the help of Nhuri Bashir, all the pieces finally fell into place.
“At Butterfield & Vallis, we’re committed to supporting the arts in Bermuda and we believe this is an amazing opportunity for the community to engage with and enjoy art in a new way.”
Nhuri Bashir, Co-Founder of Burnt House Productions and Bermuda Walls, said, “We’re thrilled to be launching Bermuda Walls’s first ever mural festival – this isn’t just a celebration of art but also a testament to the power of collaboration and community spirit. We invite everyone to join us for a weekend filled with creativity, inspiration, and unforgettable memories.”
Glayson Leroy, artist and co-founder of Bermuda Walls, said, “I’m very excited about creating Bermuda Walls alongside my long time friend, Spencer Butterfield. This year, we’re going to be showcasing some amazing Bermudian talents as well as bringing incredible recognised artists to the island. We can’t wait to see what magic they create and the inspiration that they all draw from this beautiful island.”
The spokesperson said, “The event is made possible by further sponsorship and support from Burnt House Productions, Galera Collective, Monster Energy, BEDC, Montana Cans, World Wide Walls, BDA Spirits, BermudAir, The Hamilton Princess & Beach Club, The Loren at Pink Beach, All Rise Ltd., BAA, Isolated and Masterworks.
