Traffic Advisory For Bicycle Time Trial On May 26
The Ministry of Public Works advised of traffic controls due to the Bermuda Bicycle Association Individual Time Trial that will take place on Sunday, May 26, 2024.
A Government spokesperson said, “The Ministry of Public Works wishes to inform motorists that the Bermuda Bicycle Association Individual Time Trial will occur on Sunday, May 26th, 2024, between 7:30 am and 8:30 am. The following roads will be affected:
Race Route
“The Adult and Junior Categories commence and conclude on Kindley Field Road. The participants head East toward the Swing Bridge roundabout and onto St. David’s Road. They continue to Great Bay Road, turning left onto Cashew City Road. The participants traverse the cul-de-sac and turn left to return to Great Bay Road. They continue to St. David’s Road, head toward the roundabout, and exit onto Kindley Field Road. They proceed along Kindley Field Road to the airport roundabout, exiting onto The Causeway and heading West along Blue Hole Hill. The participants proceed around the roundabout at Blue Hole Hill to head back East along Blue Hole Hill onto The Causeway to return to the finish line on Kindley Field Road.
“The Youth Categories commence and conclude on Kindley Field Road. The participants head east on Kindley Field to turn around the Swing Bridge roundabout and head west down Kindley Field Road toward the airport roundabout, exiting onto The Causeway and heading west along Blue Hole Hill. The participants proceed around the roundabout at Blue Hole Hill to head back East along Blue Hole Hill onto The Causeway to return to the finish line on Kindley Field Road.
Traffic Control
“The bicycle race will commence on Sunday, May 26th, 2024, at 7:30 am and is expected to conclude by 8:30 am. All motorists are expected to use caution and to avoid collision with race participants. The race route will be under the control of Race Marshals. Motorists must follow the instructions from the Race Marshals to assist with traffic control for this event.
Road Closures
“There will be no roads closed to traffic while the time trial takes place.
“The Ministry of Public Works wishes to encourage the full cooperation of the motoring public and apologizes for any inconvenience that may result. Should there be any questions regarding this event, please direct queries to the attention of the race representative, Andrew Charlesworth at #703-2162.
“In addition, the Bermuda police are hereby authorized to ‘Close off’ streets or portions of streets and authorize parking as the Commissioner of Police decides.”
